Bella Michaels Restaurant Will Surprise You ~ Right in town in Oneonta..Under Your Nose!
Tucked away on River Street amongst the quaint houses this restaurant houses a chef d’extraodinaire and a well run establishment to boot. Chef Alex hails from Central America and his cuisine while catering to the Italian-American influence provides authentic and generously portioned versions of all that that you love. However, the spin on seafood and sauces and the mix of ‘what works’ flavors may also surprise you. Especially when found in Oneonta, NY!
Chef Alex is a seasoned professional chef. But he always pushes the boundaries offering a flair for deliciously NOT overcooked fish dishes and will amazingly, (in this smaller town), provide a dish to your own dietary or just personal preference at the drop of his Chef’s hat. You can also expect a very genuine Chef’s visit to your table and appealingly this chef does not take any of his clientele for granted. His Central American roots shine through in both his dishes and his personality.
The restaurant is thoroughly engaging and bar tender Gabriel will serve you a properly poured and tasty cocktail with her bright spirit which is pervasive throughout the restaurant. Try one of her Cranberry Marguerites for sure.
Portions are generous and value for money is apparent. I have tried and would recommend many of the specials, though I have a personal leaning toward the fish. Having said that, I immensely enjoyed the Chicken Cordon Bleu, the sauce was amazing, chicken juicy. Chef Alex truly does care about his customers and while he employs a brigade as anyone would need to run a kitchen, his keen oversight ensures consistency and his attention to fresh ingredients end menu creations is awesome.
Staff are friendly, professional and the environment clean.
If you want to plan event they have an awesome back room that is open and inviting of which lots of local business folks including bankers, insurance and entrepreneurs from all spheres take advantage. For folks looking to celebrate weddings, or other events, sad or happy regularly book. It is a very lovely space because it is private but not closed off and the atmosphere, like the restaurant is cheerful.
The rates are extremely reasonable and you can even book the entire property for an exclusive event on Sundays, which is the only day they are closed. Lunch and dinner are offered otherwise daily.
A definite recommend.
